Nischitarthamu" refers to engagement or the formal agreement between families for the marriage of a couple. It is a partial or preliminary step towards the actual wedding. During this ceremony, Vedic pandits and elders gather to decide on an auspicious date for the wedding and exchange "Lagna Patrika" or wedding invitations. This marks the initiation of wedding preparations, and certain rituals like "Biyyam Kattuta" and "Pasupu Danchuta" are performed.From the day of Nischitarthamu, the bond between the bride and groom's families begins. Some pre-wedding ceremonies and arrangements start from this day, and it is common for the immediate families to be present during this event. The actual wedding proceedings happen on a later date, as per the schedule decided during Nischitarthamu.
